Your operation

The day before the operation

I receive a call from the clinic nurse reminding me of the usual instructions and the time of admission. I inform her of any changes in my state of health since the anaesthetic consultation, including the possibility of pregnancy.

Here's what I have to do...

  • I stop eating and drinking after midnight
  • I take a shower before going to bed with a mild soap or an antiseptic if prescribed by the doctor, including my hair

If necessary before showering

  • I carry out the depilation requested by the surgeon using clippers or depilatory cream purchased on prescription from a pharmacy
  • I remove all nail varnish, jewellery and piercings

The morning of the operation

  • I must not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum or suck sweets for six hours before the operation.

Here's what I have to do...

  • Take a shower with mild soap or an antiseptic if prescribed by the doctor, and put on clean clothes.
  • Don't take anything of value with you
  • According to the anaesthetist's instructions, I take or not my usual treatment with a sip of water.

Don't forget to inform the surgeon and anaesthetist of any changes in your state of health since the anaesthetic consultation (fever, cough, pain, etc.). If necessary, contact the anaesthetist before the day of the operation.

Necessary for your stay

Everything you need for your personal comfort, not forgetting the essentials... Don't forget a book, magazine or music to occupy your time during the pre- and post-operative phases.

In the event of hospitalisation

  • Your personal linen: body linen, nightwear, bathrobe, slippers, towel, etc.
  • Your toiletries: liquid soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
