Discharge procedure

You must be discharged on medical advice. In the event of an unauthorised discharge, you will be asked to sign a discharge form against medical advice, releasing the establishment from any liability.

When you are discharged, you will be given a discharge document containing information essential to your follow-up after the operation. This document is necessary, in the event of problems, for your GP or any other doctor who may need to examine you in the hours or days following your hospitalisation. You will be given therapeutic instructions and told how to continue your usual treatments if necessary.

Special case of outpatient surgery: You may only leave the outpatient surgery department after obtaining authorisation from your surgeon or the anaesthetist-intensive care doctor. If your state of health so requires, you may remain in hospital for an extra night. When you are discharged, it is essential for an adult to be with you on the journey home and during the night following the operation. You will only be able to leave the ward on this condition.

It is to this person that any precautions to be taken after your return home will be indicated. Before you leave, you will need to go back to the secretary's office to complete the discharge formalities.

After the anaesthetic

  • You may be less alert for a few hours.
  • Do not use any potentially dangerous equipment and do not make any important decisions, as your alertness may be impaired without you realising it.
  • Do not take any medicines other than those authorised by your surgeon or anaesthetist.

For the first 24 hours following your return home, you should rest, not drive or use public transport, eat light meals without alcohol and not smoke. You must remain contactable by telephone.

In the case of outpatient surgery, a nurse will call to check on you the day after your operation.

Accommodation costs

The Maternité Sainte-Thérèse is a registered clinic and therefore applies the Tiers Payant system. Depending on the conditions for reimbursement by your Social Security or your mutual insurance company, you will have to pay

  • The part not covered by Social Security (co-payment and insurance contribution)
  • Additional accommodation costs: private room, accompanying bed, etc.
  • Additional fees paid by practitioners.

For further information, please contact our reception staff.

Medical fees

The majority of our practitioners work on a fee basis. It is up to the doctors to inform you of the amount of any excess fees before your hospitalisation. These may be fully or partially reimbursed, depending on your mutual insurance contract.

Satisfaction questionnaire

You will be given a questionnaire during your stay. It is designed to collect your suggestions and observations. You can hand in the completed questionnaire in the collection boxes provided in the clinic, to the nurse or directly to the housekeeper.
